I didn't realize it when I put the shirt on before school that day that cannabis would become such a big part of my life. I'm there with the cannabis shirt in the bottom left surrounded by some of my best friends at Buckhannon Upshur High School.

 After moving to Blacksburg, I discovered that Virginia Tech had a chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws.  I met Michael Krawitz here and started attended meetings regularly.

We held info tables on and off campus. It didn't take me long to get a license plate representing NORML.

In November 1998, Election Day, we went to Washington D.C. to help Marijuana Policy Project and local AIDS activists to pass a medical marijuana initiative. Working with Michael Krawitz, Rob Kampia, Chuck Thomas, Steve Deangelo and others was inspirational to me. We helped them succeed with 69% of voters voting in favor.

Since I-59, MPP has went on to change more cannabis laws than any other group 

NORML led to MPP, TREE, Amnesty International and other organizations such as Students for Sensible Drug Policy.

SSDP is the largest national youth-led network dedicated to ending the War on Drugs. The war on drugs has been largely a war on cannabis users, with cannabis users accounting for more than half of all drug arrests in the U.S.
